What Is Image Color Palette?

The Image Color Palette Extractor pulls the dominant colours out of a picture and orders them by how much of the image each one covers. Choose anywhere from 3 to 12 colours, with six as a sensible default, and tick the dominant-colours option to leave out the thin accent shades. The palette can be copied as CSS custom properties or downloaded as a PNG swatch sheet.

Who Uses the Image Color Palette?

Designers, art directors and developers use it to derive a colour scheme from a photograph for a website, brand refresh, slide deck or mood board.

How to Use the Image Color Palette

  1. Drop in the image and set how many colours you want with the 3 to 12 slider - six is a good default.
  2. Tick "Dominant colours only" if you want the palette to ignore the smaller accent shades.
  3. Press Re-extract to refresh, then Copy all as CSS variables or Download palette as PNG.

Why Choose Our Image Color Palette?

  • Buckets every pixel into colour groups and returns the most-covered colours first
  • Each swatch shows its percentage of the palette, so you know what really dominates the image
  • Exports straight to CSS custom properties, ready to paste into a stylesheet
