Color Blindness Simulator

Preview an image as someone with a colour vision deficiency sees it, and test whether a colour pair still reads as different. Runs in your browser.

Drop an image, or click to choose one. Logos, charts and status colours are the most revealing.

Test a colour pair

This is the check a contrast ratio cannot do. Two colours can pass WCAG contrast and still become indistinguishable to a dichromatic viewer.

What this does and does not tell you

This simulates colour vision, not colour contrast. Roughly 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women have some form of colour vision deficiency, and the most common is deuteranopia.

The simulation is an approximation using standard dichromacy matrices, good enough to catch a palette that will not work. It is not a substitute for testing with people, and it does not model anomalous trichromacy, which is the more common and milder form.

A pair scoring low here should be separated by something other than hue: an icon, a label, a border weight, or lightness.

What Is Color Blindness Simulator?

The Color Blindness Simulator shows how any photo looks under common types of color vision deficiency, including protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia. Upload an image or use the built-in sample, switch between modes, and download the simulation to share with your team.

Who Uses the Color Blindness Simulator?

Designers, developers, and accessibility reviewers use it to check charts, maps, game art, and interfaces before real users with color blindness ever see them.

How to Use the Color Blindness Simulator

  1. Upload a photo or load the built-in sample image.
  2. Pick a deficiency mode to preview the simulation instantly.
  3. Compare modes side by side to find problem colors.
  4. Download the simulated image for documentation or stakeholder review.

Why Choose Our Color Blindness Simulator?

  • Five simulation modes covering the common deficiencies
  • Works on your own photos, with a built-in sample for quick tests
  • Pair checker judges whether two colors stay distinguishable
  • Downloadable results for design reviews and reports
